The Cleveland Orchestra in Miami

January 31st, 2012 § Leave a Comment

I’m very pleased to share the photographs from a spectacular evening with The Cleveland Orchestra. The New Yorker got it right in describing it as “the ultimate symphonic ensemble.” It is the sixth season of the Cleveland Orchestra Miami, performing at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. I had the pleasure of photographing the concert past weekend at the acoustically superior Knight Concert Hall. A truly impressive concert under the direction of Franz Welser-Möst.  I am looking forward to their concert at the Salzburg Festival this summer.

I can not believe we are in year 2012!! Today I took time and looked back on 2011… it was an amazing year!! I fulfilled my dreams in so many areas. I had wonderful, fun times, laughing with my kids, my family and my friends. I travelled more and photographed more, I meet incredible people and my photography business exceeded my wildest expectations. I am genuinely happy and I know that 2012 will be even better. Wishing everyone an incredible New Year!

The above photo was taken at the New World Symphony, at one of the spectacular events during Art Basel.

Crazy December, Rolls Royce and the amazing Jaka Vinsek….

I have been unbelievable busy, it seems like there is always something happening in South Florida. Art Basel was great, everyone from the world of art was in Miami this week, lots of crazy events… I had a wonderful opportunity to meet and work with a fellow Slovenian and an amazing photographer – Jaka Vinsek. His photography is inspiring, but even better than his big talent is Jaka’s fun personality! Enjoy checking out his work, here is the link to the web site. Jaka is based in New York but also works worldwide, I am looking forward to our next project.

The photo below is us having fun while being rushed through South Beach in a breathtaking Rolls Royce, a small perk of having the best clients ever!

During the Fort Lauderdale boat show I had the pleasure of meeting and shooting for the Taracea team. They design and manufacture custom made furniture, ceilings, vanities, doors and much more. Very nice team, hope to have a chance to visit their production site in Mexico. If you are in South Florida visit them at the DACOTA design center, you will be impressed.

Karim Rashid and mybrickell

October 28th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

Proud to say that I work with the best event organizers in South Florida so I photograph at the most spectacular events, simple.

Last night was no different,  I had the pleasure of photographing Mr. Karim Rashid, a true genius.  For everyone who is not familiar with his work, Karim was named by TIME as the “Most Famous Industrial Designer in All the Americas”. Over 3000 designs in production,  over 300 awards and working in over 35 countries attest to Karim’s legend of design. To see spectacular designs in furniture, watches, lights, radiators (unbelievable!) to the most simple everyday items - enjoy Karim’s web site!

Many people gathered last night to join Karim and other impressive teams behind mybrickel, The Related Group and Arquitectonica. mybrickell is a 192-unit condominium and is set to be one of The Related Group’s most acclaimed projects and one of its most original.  The spirit is simple, colorful, pleasurable yet very contemporary spaces for a true urban Miami lifestyle. Here are few photographs I took of the beautiful miniature model.  mybrickell will be a beautiful addition to the Miami downtown area.

Helping raise money for the best school ever….

October 24th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

Last week I photographed at a very special school, the Virginia Shuman Young Montessori Magnet Elementary School. Yes, it is a Blue Ribbon school, but what makes this school stand out are the people. The teachers are amazing, the parents are involved and the students are just fantastic!

With school staff and parents volunteering and giving their time and talents, we managed to throw a great party last Friday. I had fun shooting all these wonderful teachers and families with all proceeds going to the school. Here are few of my favorite photos, enjoy!

Water drops

October 17th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

I was just reading the Strobist blog about high-speed photography and I came across a very talented photographer Martin Waugh. Martin has a passion for photographing water drops and his work is amazing! Not surprisingly the next thought that crossed my mind was – I want to try it!  I took my camera and one flash to the kitchen sink and tried it out.

And I fell in love…  The photographs are not manipulated, I changed the colors simply by shooting the flash into a plastic cutting board (I have them in several colors, never thought I will use them for anything else then cutting). Warning to anyone  who will try it out – it’s addictive! Enjoy the “liquid” photos, I’ll be back (at the sink) very soon…

I wish I could take a trip to Venice right now…

October 13th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

August is long gone and I am so ready for another vacation… If I am not shooting commercial stuff I am chained to my computers, editing. I still did not have the chance to finish all the travel photographs from this summer.

I just peeked at the photographs from Venice and I am so sad, I don’t even want to work on them… Beautiful place and I really wish I could be there now, sipping on my espresso and watching people.  Maybe eating bovoletti for dinner… Will share the gallery soon.

I FELL sLOVEnia

Great news – one of my winning photographs will be used for the promotion of my beautiful country Slovenia. Check out the fantastic design of the shopping bags that should hit the market soon. The promotional campaign I FELL SLOVENIA is the best ever, love the T-shirts ( I have probably 5 or 6 of them, missing just the blue one)!

I guess I am turning my beautiful daughter in to a model by coincidence…

Lost world

October 2nd, 2011 § Leave a Comment

My last post was about the new, modern, high tech property in South Florida…  To see the opposite I am sharing the view I had walking through a very old house in Prekmurje, Slovenia. It fascinates me to think how did people live many years ago. What were their priorities, fears and passions?

Sad to say but I found too many old houses that are falling apart, leaving just a vague memory of someones existence.

Hope you enjoyed the tour throughout this beautiful residence on Indian Creek, Florida. It is one of the most spectacular works by the renowned architect Rene Gonzalez. I am proud to say that my images have been recently submitted to The American Institute of Architects for the National Award and to the Architect Magazine for the Annual Design Review. Wishing Rene to win and receive all the well deserved awards!

I always travel with lots of equipment, big pro camera body, many expensive lenses… of course a must at each project. But so many times my iPhone is the camera that captures my best memories. As the saying goes: the best camera is the one that’s with you… Here are few iPhone pix from my recent New York trip. To see the NY gallery please visit my Facebook page.  Enjoy!

Beach LoungeBar

September 22nd, 2011 § Leave a Comment

Sunny Isles, Florida is getting a great addition to the night life! Beach LoungeBar is preparing to open in October and it will be a fun place to hang out, drink and eat… Beautiful concept, great location, spectacular menu and with being the first real beach lounge bar in Sunny Isles – there is no doubt it will be a big hit!

I had the pleasure of shooting their food portfolio last week and I must admit – I got hooked on Brazilian food. The owner Henrique is a talented chef and I love that he is adding the Brazilian flair to the Lounge. 24 dishes later my food review: AMAZING!  Featured here are the Wild Mushrooms Consomé, Asian Salad and the Chocolate Mousse in a hand made chocolate cup… yes, you want to “like” them now on Facebook – Beach LoungeBar

Remember to Love – remembering 9 11

September 15th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

New York was never the same since 9/11 and last Sunday we all remembered what happened 10 years ago.  I want to share with everyone who was not in NY in the past few days – you could feel LOVE everywhere!  The photo above was taken at the Trinity Church, the closest church to Ground Zero. The fence was covered with thousands of white ribbons carrying notes, touching personal messages…

It is heart breaking to see Manhattan skyline without the twin towers, but the beautiful lady in front always fills me with hope. Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom.

Folk festival in Europe

September 10th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

I was writing yesterday about the big Fashion’s Night Out in Florida, naming some of the biggest names in the world of fashion…. as a fun addition – I would like to share with you photos I  shot at a folk festival in Beltinci (Slovenia) just few weeks ago. Every year this village organizes a great event where past traditions come alive.

Many countries participated this year:  Serbia, Austria, Croatia, Hungary and many more. And since it’s all about fashion lately, it was fun to see how the people dressed many years ago… Well if I look at the Serbian man on the photo below, I would say – really fascinating!

Amazing dance performances, music, food and so much fun!! I must admit, LOVE hanging out at events like this and I believe I did not miss even one this summer in Slovenia.
